THCa flower refers to cannabis flower that contains high levels of THCa, which is the precursor to Delta 9 THC. D9 THC is what’s responsible for the “high” experienced when consuming cannabis.
However, THCa is non-psychoactive. Freshly harvested cannabis plants naturally contain THCa rather than Delta-9 THC. When cannabis is exposed to heat, such as through smoking or vaporization, THCa undergoes a process called decarboxylation, converting it to Delta-9 THC.
This conversion results in the psychoactive effects commonly associated with consuming cannabis. The definition of hemp from a federal standpoint is cannabis with a Delta-9 THC measurement lower than 0.3%.
As that description omits THCa, products on our website listing flower buds containing 20%-35% THCa content are still considered hemp – to help distinguish them, they have been labelled ‘THCA Hemp Flower’, but you may call it whatever you prefer.
